CHICAGO (CBS) -- A teller was shot during a bank robbery Monday in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.
Bolingbrook police said they were called to First Midwest Bank, 450 N. Bolingbrook Dr., around noon after a man entered the bank, wearing a mask, and announced a robbery.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports the 21-year-old female teller was shot in the arm during the robbery. Officials said the woman who was shot was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for treatment. She has been treated and released.
Police said the offender was described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, red baseball hat, and black bandanna with white markings. The FBI released a surveillance image from inside the bank of the suspect holding a gun.
Bank customer Nicole Gonzalez told CBS 2's Derrick Blakley she saw the teller walk out holding her arm and taken to an ambulance.
It is not known what the robber had taken.
"I can't speak to what was taken here but we know the important thing is the customers that were in the bank and our employees are safe and the injured employee is in good condition," senior vice president Jim Roolf. "That is all we really care about at this point."
Police had cordoned off the bank, and officers were seen searching at least two vehicles in a nearby parking lot.
