Chicago Election Judges Behaving Badly: Cursing, Sleeping, Playing The Piano
(CBS) -- Problems in Chicago with misbehaving judges were not as serious Monday as in years past.
There were a handful of complaints, however:
--A judge who smelled strongly of alcohol
--Another creating a "hostile" work environment, "cursing" coworkers
--A "rude" judge at a polling place in a nursing home who was playing the piano instead of working
In all, seven judges were removed. Offenses included "surly and/or loud behavior" and sleeping on the job, officials said.
The city's biggest issue was in precincts where voters complained they were not given a second ballot sheet for voting on constitutional amendments.
It was corrected, but voters who left without getting those sheets could not return to vote.
