Baby Boy Ejected From Van In Humboldt Park Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An infant was critically injured early Tuesday, when he was ejected from a van that struck a utility pole and a fence in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Police said a 26-year-old woman was driving north on the 500 block of North Pulaski Road around 1:30 a.m. when her van hit a pole and then a wrought iron fence..

Her 5-month-old son was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. The woman also was taken to Stroger, where her condition was described only as "stable."

Two other passengers in the van were not injured.

The boy's mother, Angelo Mingo, of the 5000 block of West Ferdinand, was cited for failure to stay in her lane, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, no child safety restraint, and no valid driver's license, according to police.
