Auditions For Musical 'Beautiful' Taking Place In Chicago
(CBS) -- If you think you can sing like Carole King, the producers of the musical "Beautiful" want to listen to you, reports WBBM's Regine Schlesinger.
Chicago actress Jessie Mueller nailed the role on Broadway, winning a Tony as best actress for her portrayal of the singer/songwriter. Now the producers are planning auditions in Chicago and Pittsburgh as they cast the lead role and others for the touring and international companies, as well as for the Broadway production of Beautiful.
Producer Paul Blake says he wanted to extend the search beyond the New York City acting community, so auditions will be held on Saturday, February 28.
In Chicago, they'll be at the Actors Equity Building at 557 West Randolph. The touring production of Beautiful comes to Chicago in December.
