Attorney General Sues Head Of Violence Prevention Charity
(CBS) -- The Illinois Attorney General is suing a Chicago area man who has been the leader of a violence prevention charity and the lawsuit claims he only spent 7 percent of the assets on violence prevention.
The charity was called Sheri Ann & Her Boys.
It was named in honor of Sheri Ann Coleman and her sons, who were murdered in their home near St. Louis six years ago.
Sheri Ann Coleman's brother Mario Decicco lives in the Chicago suburbs - and he ultimately led the charity.
Questions arose about how the money was being spent.
And Decicco said he had donated the bulk of it, anonymously, to a woman's shelter in Chicago, but wouldn't reveal the name of it.
Now Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed suit against Decicco, saying he has misappropriated more than $33,000 and that only about $2,500 actually went toward the charity's mission: violence prevention.
