2 Dead In Kane County Wreck
(CBS) – A fatal crash near Aurora Monday may be connected to a car chase and gunfight, authorities say.
Authorities say a GMC Envoy and a Jaguar, both traveling at fast speeds, crashed into the trailer of a turning semi-tractor on Orchard Road and Interstate 88 around noon.
The 23-year old driver of the Envoy was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old passenger in that car later died at the hospital, and a third person in the car has life-threatening injuries, authorities say.
The truck driver and the person behind the wheel of the Jaguar reportedly have minor injuries.
The Kane County Sheriff's Department says there were reports of cars chasing and shooting at each other in the area before the crash. The office is working with Aurora police.
