'At Issue' Profiles Unconventional Cook County Judge
(CBS) -- You've probably never encountered a judge like Jackie Marie Portman. Not in real life.
WBBM got permission to record in her Cook County courtroom. Reporter Steve Miller has the story.
Portman gives what she calls "the speech" about three times a month to medium-to-high-risk probationers who have violated that probation. They are getting a chance to stay out of prison.
"I am not your typical judge. Because you are not the typical clients," she says.
She tells them she will only accept their 100 percent.
"I will not accept 99.99999999999," she says.
Judge Jackie Portman is the focus of "At Issue" this Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
