Assistant Principal Accused Of Sexually Abusing Student In Midlothian
(STMW) -- Bond was set at $250,000 Thursday for a south suburban high school administrator charged with sexually abusing a student in Midlothian.
Bremen High School Assistant Principal Joseph A. Simone faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after a girl told district officials Jan. 12 that he "had acted inappropriately towards her," according to a statement from Dist. 228 Superintendent Bill Kendall and Cook County Circuit Court records.
"These charges are shocking to the District and the conduct alleged within these charges clearly falls outside of our core values and the expectations we hold for all of our staff members," Kendall said.
Officials at the school at 15233 S. Pulaski Road notified police and DCFS, and Simone—who didn't show up for work the day after the girl came forward—was placed on administrative leave, Kendall said.
Midlothian police could not be reached for more details Thursday night.
"District 228 will move forward and take any and all appropriate actions against Dr. Simone based upon the results of the investigations in this matter," Kendall said.
Simone, a Mokena resident, was ordered held on a $250,000 bond by Judge Laurence J. Dunford at a hearing in Markham, court records show. He remained jailed Thursday night, with his next court date is scheduled for Feb. 10.
