Army Vet Missing Since Dec. 1 Had Been Suffering From PTSD

(CBS) -- An Iraq war vet suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is still missing 10 days after he walked out of his home in the northern suburbs.

After two weeks of nightmares, Dan Nerstrom was ready to see a therapist. But his November appointment at the VA was pushed back a month, and his girlfriend, Amanda Tiffany, says the 30-year-old former Army Scout walked out of their Libertyville home Dec. 1.

He left a letter that didn't specifically say he would hurt himself, but she thinks it was a suicide note.

Friends and relatives have looked, and police have used search dogs and a helicopter with a heat sensor, but so far have found no sign of the 6-foot-1, 175-pound blonde man with blue eyes. He may be armed, but Tiffany says the only person he would harm is himself.
