Armed robbery suspect charged after attacking pair on Chicago's Northwest Side, police say

1 in custody after armed robbery in Irving Park

CHICAGO (CBS) – A man was charged after robbing and attacking two people in Irving Park Sunday morning.

Chicago police arrested 19-year-old Kamahri Blount in the 4100 block of West Berteau Avenue. He was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery, one count of armed robbery, and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. 

Police say around 7:20 a.m., a man, 29, and a woman, 25, were approached by an armed offender who presented a handgun and attacked them before taking their belongings. The offender then fired shots in the direction of the man. 

The victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to Swedish Hospital for treatment.

Blout was taken into custody 10 minutes later. 

He is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Monday.
