Armed Robber Steals Money, Cigarettes From Orland Park Gas Station
(CBS) -- Orland Park Police are investigating an armed robbery in which a man got a little bit of money, and a lot of cigarettes.
It was just after 11 p.m. on August 22 when a man entered the Mobil gas station at 11200 W. 183rd St. and asked a few questions, including about the price of a carton of cigarettes.
"He then pulled out a black handgun, displayed it to the cashier and told her, 'I want all the cartons of Newport light cigarettes and also the cash from the cash register,'" Orland Park Police Commander John Keating.
Police say the most important thing is the cashier was not hurt and also say the robbery was unusual.
"This is the first armed robbery we've has in Orland Park where the suspect actually asked for cartons of cigarettes during the commission of the robbery."
Police have released surveillance images of the suspect and his vehicle, a silver four-door Chevrolet Impala.
