Anthony Rizzo Told Cancer Patient He'd Homer For Him, Then Went Yard Twice
(CBS) Love or hate the Cubs, you have to respect their first baseman, Anthony Rizzo.
At 24 and a first-time All-Star this year, Rizzo is blossoming into a team leader in addition to being quite the slugger, with a National League-leading 25 homers. He has a soft side too, as was on display Tuesday night.
Prior to Tuesday's game against the Padres, Rizzo told 22-year-old cancer patient Mike Kasallis that he would hit a home run for him. Turns out, Rizzo hit two -- and they came on the day before Kasallis' birthday.
The story of Kallis and Rizzo was told by Cubs play-by-play man Len Kasper during Wednesday's broadcast.
Rizzo gave a special gesture at home plate as a sign to Kasallis. Check the homers out below.
