American Airlines London-Chicago Flight Returns To Heathrow

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An American Airlines flight from London to Chicago had to return to Heathrow Airport due to an unspecified mechanical problem.

The plane's crew reported an unspecified issue shortly after takeoff and began dumping fuel before circling back to Heathrow around 7 a.m., Chicago time.

Flight 87, with 203 passengers and 11 crew members, landed safely.

The plane was checked out and then re-departed Heathrow enroute to Chicago and is due to arrive at 6 p.m.
