Amber Alert For Missing Gary Teenager Who May Be In 'Extreme Danger'

(CBS) -- The Gary Police Department is investigating the possible abduction of a teen, and state police have issued an Amber Alert.

Chastinea Reeves is a 15-year-old black female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police said in a news release.

Her mother was the victim of a crime at the time of the teen's disappearance around 2 a.m. Monday. Gary police declined to offer specifics.

"It's very urgent that we find Chastinea as soon as possible," Lt. Dawn Westerfield told reporters at a briefing Monday evening.

The teen may be in "extreme danger," police said.

The teen ran to the home of relative Kelli McMillan, who says Chastinea had a younger sibling with her. Chastinea was "hysterical" and ran out the back door, the relative said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gary Police Department at 1-888-58AMBER (582-6237) or 911.
