After The Bell: China, Tech Sector Push Stocks Higher
By Andy Giersher
(CBS) -- Stocks closed higher Friday, finishing a banner week for all three of the major indices, after a trio of blue chip tech companies posted better-than-expected earnings and China's central bank cut interest rates.
The S&P 500 gained 23, the NASDAQ added 112 and the Dow Jones industrial average closed up nearly 158 points, settling to 17,646.
"We've stabilized from the August/September mayhem that was going on and now have seen central banks around the world continue their easy monetary policies," says Andrew Busch, Editor of the Busch Update.
He also noted that all this stimulus coming into the market has led to a stronger dollar and a rally in equities.
