Advocate Children's Hospital patients head to Mesa for Cubs Spring Training

MESA, Ariz. (CBS) -- Three patients from Advocate Children's Hospital are taking eth trip of a lifetime.

They arrived in Arizona Thursday for Cubs Spring Training – and they are huge Cubs fans.

The youngsters had a great sendoff Thursday morning at O'Hare International Airport. American Airlines sent the kids and their families to watch the action in Mesa.

At Wrigley Field on Wednesday, 17-year-old leukemia patient Daniella Castro, 15-year-old brain tumor patient Gael Alvarado Munoz, and 11-year-old heart patient Gage Webber got a surprise video board message from Cubs manager David Ross.

At their three-day VIP experience at Cubs spring training, the kids and their families will watch the Cubs play their first spring game.

At Sloan Park in Mesa, they will also all have on-field access to get autographs and handshakes from the team.
