A Homeless Person Helped Seal The Johnny Football-To-Cleveland Deal, According To Sal Paolantonio
(CBS) There are many reasons to choose a player in the NFL Draft.
He's the best available player. He best fills your biggest need. He's a game-changing playmaker. He will help your franchise sell tickets. And perhaps most of all, your extensive prep work -- months and months and months of it -- tells you to choose said player.
Or you can listen to a homeless person. That apparently played a role in the Browns selecting Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 22nd overall pick in last night's first round -- at least according to ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio.
Recounting a story told to him by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, Paolantonio said Haslam was out for dinner in the Cleveland area recently when a homeless person stopped Haslam and said, "Draft Manziel."
"And that convinced (Haslam) that the Cleveland Browns fans wanted Manziel," Paolantonio said.
