8 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings Across Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least eight people were wounded — two of them critically — in shootings across Chicago on Wednesday.
Most recently, a 24-year-old man was shot while driving in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
It happened at 10:51 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Palmer when someone walked up and started shooting, striking the man in the back, according to Chicago Police. He was taken in good condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Earlier Wednesday night, a 26-year-old man was critically wounded in a Rogers Park neighborhood drive-by on the North Side.
He was standing on a corner in the 1900 block of West Birchwood at 8:12 p.m. when a vehicle drove by and someone inside shot him in the head, police said. He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition.
Less than an hour earlier, another drive-by left a man critically injured in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
About 7:20 p.m., the 21-year-old was outside in the 8700 block of South Wabash when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside shot him in the head, police said. The vehicle took off south on Wabash. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
Within the hour, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Pullman neighborhood.
The teenager was standing outside in the 9600 block of South Greenwood at 7:03 p.m. when a car drove through an alley, stopped and someone inside fired shots before the car drove off, police said. He was shot in the right hand and taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition.
Another 17-year-old was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was standing at the intersection of Keeler and Augusta just after 4 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain. He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
Earlier in the afternoon, a 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.
He was walking in the 1100 block of West 88th Street about 1:45 p.m. when he heard shots and realized he'd been struck, police said. He took himself to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was listed in good condition.
Wednesday morning, a 21-year-old man was shot three times in a Roseland neighborhood drive-by on the Far South Side.
He was standing outside when shots were fired from a passing gray vehicle at 9:30 a.m. in the 10500 block of South Prairie Avenue, police said. He was shot in the leg, abdomen, and buttocks and taken to Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
The day's first shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
A 40-year-old man was walking home in the 5500 block of South Troy when he heard at least four shots and realized he'd been struck in the calf, police said. A family member took him to Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
