68-year-old man shot in Chicago alley
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is shot in Wicker Park late Thursday afternoon.
As CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reported, the scene was just blocks from the central six-way intersection of North, Damen, and Milwaukee avenues.
Chicago police said around 4:45 p.m., a 68-year-old man was in an alley behind the 1400 block of North Elk Grove Avenue Thursday afternoon. Elk Grove Avenue runs parallel to the diagonal Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park.
Police said the victim was approached by a gunman, who shot the victim in the chest.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County and was reported in serious condition.
No one is in custody and CPD detectives are investigating.
