6 Wounded In Chicago Shootings Tuesday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Six people were wounded in shootings Tuesday on Chicago's West and South sides, according to Chicago Police.
The most recent shooting happened at 7:13 p.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. A 29-year-old man was standing in front of his home in the 11900 block of South Harvard when two males approached him with handguns and forced him inside. One of the males shot the man in the upper leg and then they both ran away with the victim's property. The man was taken to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in good condition.
A minute before, a man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. He was one of four people wounded in separate shootings in Austin in less than seven hours. The 21-year-old was walking at 7:12 p.m. in the first block of South Lavergne when a vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots, police said. He was struck in the arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Earlier in the afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was shot in Austin at 1:09 p.m. in the 500 block of North Laramie, according to police. He outside when a red sedan approached and someone inside fired shots and he was struck in the hand. He was taken to Rush University Medical Center by a friend, where he was listed in good condition.
About 10 minutes before, a 23-year-old was shot in the right leg in the 5300 block of West Adams, police said. He took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition.
About 20 minutes before that, a man was seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting in Austin, police said. The 21-year-old was standing outside about 12:40 p.m. in the 5500 block of West Quincy when a silver car pulled up and someone fired shots. He was shot in the arm and abdomen, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
The first shooting of the day wounded a 15-year-old boy in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. He was standing on the corner at Kostner and Jackson about 9:30 a.m. when someone in a white car fired shots, police said. The boy was shot in the left ring finger and ran to the 4300 block of West Adams, where a bystander called police. He was taken in good condition to Loretto Hospital.
