5 teens shot while walking near Chicago's United Center
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Five teenagers were sent to the hospital after shots were fired on the city's Near West Side.
The shooting happened near the United Center following a concert just after midnight.
As CBS 2's Noel Brennan reported, the concert featuring music artist Rod Wave had just wrapped up at the United Center when police said the five victims were walking on the sidewalk, in the 2000 block of West Monroe Street around 12:15 a.m., when shots were fired from a vehicle.
All five victims were taken to area hospitals by the Chicago Fire Department, according to police.
A 15-year-old boy was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg.
Two 18-year-olds were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with one suffering a graze wound to the left arm and the other with a gunshot wound to the right leg.
Two 16-year-old boys were also taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition one with a gunshot wound to the right arm, the other to the right leg.
Evidence markers in the street suggest multiple rounds were fired - some even pierced the windshield of a cab.
"Three, four shots on my car," the cab driver said.
The driver wasn't hurt but stayed on the scene during the investigation.
It's not clear whether the teens were leaving the concert Wednesday night.
Chicago Police say detectives are investigating and no arrests have been made.
