$3M Bond For Lombard Woman Charged With Fatally Stabbing, Beating Husband

WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) -- A west suburban woman charged with fatally stabbing and beating her husband with a baseball bat in their Lombard home Thursday morning has been ordered held on a $3 million bond.

Anka Misocevic, 56, faces one count of first-degree murder for the stabbing and beating of her husband Thursday morning at their home in the 800 block of Hammerschmidt Avenue in Lombard, a statement from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office said.

Misocevic allegedly stabbed her husband, Zeljko Misocevic, in the chest with a knife while he was sleeping in their bed, according to prosecutors.

Zeljko pulled the knife from his chest and was able to call 911, but a struggle ensued between the husband and wife, and Misocevic, armed with a baseball bat, struck Zeljko in the head, prosecutors said.

Officers responding to the home about 10:30 a.m. Thursday found Misocevic lying on top of her husband in the front lawn, prosecutors said.

Rescue crews took Zeljko to an area hospital where he later died, the state's attorney's office said. His age was not immediately available, Lombard police and the DuPage County Coroner's office said.

Judge Patrick Leston ordered Misocevic held on $3 million during a bond hearing Saturday, prosecutors said. She is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 3.
