3 Young Women Shot Near 79th Street Red Line Station

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three teenage girls and women were shot Tuesday evening near the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line station at 79th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m.

Police said the victims were standing on the sidewalk when a silver sedan approached and began firing shots in their direction.

A 19-year-old woman was shot in the right foot, and a 16-year-old girl was shot in the right forearm. Both were in good condition.

A 13-year-old girl was shot in the left arm and was taken to the U of C's Comer Children's Hospital, also in good condition.

There was a heavy police presence at the scene, and traffic was being rerouted.

The CTA said the station was being bypassed.

Police said all the victims were "very uncooperative" with officers and refused to answer any questions.
