3-Month-Old Among 7 Hurt In Crystal Lake Crash
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (STMW) -- Seven people, including a three-month-old child, were hurt in a crash in northwest suburban Crystal Lake Friday evening.
Emergency crews were called about 7:04 p.m. to the rollover crash on Illinois Route 31 south of James R. Rakow Road, according to a press release from Crystal Lake police.
A 1995 Toyota 4Runner was travelling north on Route 31 when it lost control, crossed into the oncoming lanes and collided with a southbound 2007 Honda Odyssey van, police said. The Toyota then rolled over before stopping in a ditch on the western side of Route 31.
The driver of the Toyota, 24-year-old Roberto DeAlba of Crystal Lake, and a woman who was a passenger were entrapped in the vehicle when emergency crews arrived, according to the release.
The three-month-old child was also a passenger in the Toyota, but had been removed from the vehicle by a concerned citizen before crews arrived, police said.
The Honda was driven by Vasant R. Patal, 37, of Caledonia, who was travelling with three adult passengers, police said.
Paramedics evaluated all seven people involved in the crash before transporting them to area hospitals, police said. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Traffic was diverted on Route 31 between Rakow and Virginia roads for about 90 minutes while crews tended to the injured victimsand removed vehicles and debris from the road, police said.
No citations have been issued in the incident, and the crash remains under investigation by Crystal Lake police.
