3 Killed, 6 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings Across Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people were slain and at least six more wounded in shootings Wednesday on the South and West sides of the city, according to Chicago Police.
The latest killing happened at 8:07 p.m. in the Austin neighborhood, where a 29-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the 5200 block of West Quincy. He died at Loretto Hospital, but additional details were not immediately available, police said.
About 6:40 p.m. in Little Village, someone in a vehicle shot a 21-year-old man in the head in the 2600 block of West Luther, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 7:04 p.m., authorities said.
The day's first killing happened about 4 a.m. in the Marquette Park neighborhood. A 59-year-old man died at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after being shot in the head in the 6600 block of South Washtenaw, authorities said.
The Cook County medical examiner's office has not released any of the victims' names.
The most recent nonfatal shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in Lawndale. A 21-year-old man was riding in a vehicle in the 1900 block of South Christiana when another car pulled out of an alley and someone inside opened fire, hitting him in the leg. He was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
At 3:08 p.m., a 23-year-old man took himself to Roseland Community Hospital after being shot in the chest in West Pullman's 300 block of West 119th Street. His condition was stabilized, police said.
More Lawndale gunfire left three people wounded in separate attacks within a half-hour of each other. About 2:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the back while siting in the passenger seat of a car in the 2100 block of South California, police said. He showed up at Saint Anthony in serious condition.
Before that, someone in a passing vehicle shot a 21-year-old man in the thigh and a 20-year-old man in the leg at 1:41 p.m. while they stood in front of a store in the 1600 block of South Drake, police said. They were taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
The first nonfatal shooting of the day happened in the Avalon Park neighborhood, where a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 8000 block of South Stony Island and later stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
Six people were shot in Chicago on Tuesday, one of them fatally.
