3 Kids, 2 Adults Hurt In Washington Heights Crash

CHICAGO (CBS/STMW) -- Three children and two adults were injured early Monday, when their car struck a tree in the Washington Heights neighborhood.

Around 12:30 a.m., a car struck a median in the 800 block of West 95th Street. The front end jumped the concrete median wall, and smashed into a tree, according to police and Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

A 22-year-old woman, 25-year-old man, and three children were inside the vehicle, police said.

Langford said a "small child" was discovered after the crash in a car seat facedown on the street on the street. The child was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The man was also taken to Christ, authorities said. The woman and two other children were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park.

Police said all five suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Langford said it was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
