3 Hurt When Truck Flips On Top Of Car On Dan Ryan
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people were hospitalized, and traffic on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway was backed up to 95th Street, after a tanker truck flipped on its side on top of a car near 47th Street on Friday afternoon.
Illinois state police say a northbound 2006 Chevy Cobalt swerved and struck a semi-tractor-trailer truck, also northbound, around 1 p.m. Both vehicles then struck the left median wall, and the semi-truck rolled over and spilled a small amount of dried concrete it was hauling.
Three people -- including the 67-year-old semi driver and a driver and passenger in the Cobalt -- were transported to area hospitals, with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
The driver of the car, Ursula D. Russ of Lavergne, Tenn., was cited for improper lane usage, state police said.
By 5 p.m. northbound lanes had reopened after the accident site was cleaned up.
