11 Wounded In Shootings Tuesday Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least 11 people were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.

Most recently, a man was critically wounded in a shooting in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The 29-year-old was sitting in a vehicle in the 4100 block of West Cermak at 11:57 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police. He was shot in the leg and thigh and drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

About 8:15 p.m., three men were wounded in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting on the West Side. The men were standing outside in the 200 block of North Pulaski about 8:15 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. The shooter then ran away. A 31-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 38-year-old man was shot in the leg, while another 38-year-old man was shot in the hand, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were both listed in good condition, police said.

Earlier Tuesday evening, a 20-year-old man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side. He was shot in the hip about 5:45 p.m. in the 9400 block of South Harvard, police said. His condition and hospital information were not immediately available.

About 4 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2900 block of West Warren in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. A police source said the man was not cooperating with investigators.

Fifteen minutes earlier, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the Lithuanian Plaza neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The attack happened about 3:45 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Western, police said. The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Another Southwest Side shooting left an 18-year-old man injured less than an hour earlier in the North Lawndale neighborhood. The man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital at 3:11 p.m. and told investigators the attack happened in the 4300 block of West Cullerton, police said. The documented gang member was listed in good condition.

At 1:19 p.m., a man was shot in the lower back and critically wounded in the South Shore neighborhood. The 30-year-old was dropped off at South Shore Hospital after the shooting in the 7100 block of South Merrill, police said. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. Police said the man has documented gang ties.

About three hours earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot in West Garfield Park. The shooting happened at 10:10 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Monroe, police said. The teenager was shot in the abdomen and was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. A police source said the victim is a documented gang member.

Tuesday's first shooting happened about 1:25 a.m. in the Edgewater neighborhood on the North Side. A 23-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle talking with his girlfriend in the 5900 block of North Kenmore when he heard people arguing outside and shots rang out, police said. He suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and back and a graze wound to the ear and was taken Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized. Police said the man may not have been the intended target of the shooting.
