1 Person Injured In Shooting On Dan Ryan Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS)-- One person was seriously injured in a shooting early Friday on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Illinois State Police said at least two vehicles were heading south on I-94 near 63rd Street around 12:40 a.m., when the people inside the cars began exchanging gunfire, before exiting the expressway.

Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle damaged in the shooting, and were later informed by Chicago Police of a shooting victim who was being treated at a local hospital with serious injuries.

At about 3:15 a.m., Illinois State Police closed the southbound local lanes of the Dan Ryan at 55th Street, and the express lanes at 59th Street, to search for evidence. Multiple shell casings were recovered, and all lanes reopened at about 6:45 a.m.

No one was in custody Friday afternoon.
