EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -- A person suffered severe burns Monday night in a fire at a large house in Evanston.

The Evanston Fire Department was called around 6 p.m. for a fire on the second floor of the house at 2623 Harrison St., in the northwest part of the north suburb.

Firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived, and the residents evacuating. Because of the number of calls, the fire department called a working fire response for additional equipment and manpower—including outside fire departments.
