1 Dead, 5 Injured After Car Hits CTA Bus In Roseland

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and five people were injured when a car and CTA bus collided in Roseland on the Far South Side early Wednesday, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m., when a car heading north on Michigan Avenue near 107th Street veered into oncoming traffic and into the bus, according to Chicago Police.

The man driving the car was dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the death.

Five people from the bus were taken to hospitals with minor injuries and two others declined medical treatment, police said.

CPD's Major Accident Investigation unit is handling the case.
