ZappRx On Hiring Spree After Raising More Than $6M
BOSTON (CBS) - A Boston-based start-up is on a hiring spree after raising more than $6 million in less than a month.
ZappRx has developed software and an app that allows patients to quickly speed-up prescription services for rare, hard-to-obtain and orphan drugs.
Founder and CEO Zoe Barry says she got the idea for the company when her brother, who has epilepsy, had difficulty getting prescriptions filled.
"I quickly realized that this was a problem that didn't plague just my family but really transcended other patients in the health care ecosystem and I set out to create a better way for patients to gain access to critical medications," Barry said.
Now, she's ramping up her staff. "Growth has been explosive," she says. "I have hired 17 people in six weeks."
Barry says the software and mobile app she's developed processes expensive medications in hours and not days.
ZappRx will be adding lots of new employees in the coming months.
