Dozens Sick After Possible Norovirus At Wright's Farm In Rhode Island
HARRISVILLE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island Health Department officials say norovirus likely caused more than two dozen people to become ill at a Harrisville restaurant over the weekend.
The department is investigating Wright's Farm Restaurant following reports that patrons became ill after eating there on Sunday.
Department spokesman Joseph Wendelken says investigators will look at food preparation practices and interview staff at the restaurant. He says it's an unpleasant situation but not an enormous health threat.
Owner Frank Galleshaw says a boy vomited in the restaurant Sunday and customers seated in that immediate area have come forward with similar symptoms. He says they're working with the Department of Health to find the cause of the sickness.
The restaurant is normally closed Monday through Wednesday and Galleshaw says they plan open again on Thursday.
