Worcester Man Drives To Hospital Two Days After Being Shot
WORCESTER (CBS) – A Worcester man who was shot did not realize the extent of his injuries until he drove himself to the hospital two days after the bullet went through his chest.
Worcester Police say the 46-year-old man was walking home Sunday night from a restaurant on Southwest Cutoff when he heard a "pop" sound and began to feel pain in his back.
The man told police he continued walking home, ate his dinner and went to sleep.
On Monday, the man was in a severe amount of pain and had a difficult time moving. He told police he slept most of the day, and when he woke up on Tuesday he noticed a large amount of blood.
The man drove himself to the hospital on Tuesday, and it was discovered that he had been shot in the left side of his chest. The bullet had entered and exited the man's body.
Police spoke to the victim, who said he did not realize initially that he had been shot. He did not know which direction the bullet came from.
The man, who police did not identify, is in serious but stable condition. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
