Worcester Police: 3-Year-Old May Have Been Hit By Gunfire

WORCESTER (CBS) – Worcester Police say a 3-year-old may have been hit by gunfire when a car she was in was shot at while driving down Harding Street on Thursday night.

Police said they received reports of gunshots in front of Crompton Park at 8:30 p.m. A car with a mother at the wheel and four children in the car had been shot at. A 3-year-old in the back seat had a minor injury to her leg. Police said they are not sure if the child was hit by a bullet.

"She sustained some injuries as a result of the gunfire," said Worcester Police Lt. Sean Murtha. "Not sure of the exact manner, whether it was a bullet that grazed her or whether it was metal knocked loose from the car that caused the injury."

There is no information on whether the shooting was random or targeted.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information can call the Worcester Police Department.
