WBZ sources: Barricaded man in custody after domestic situation in Worcester

WORCESTER - A man is in custody after sources tell WBZ he barricaded himself in a home following a domestic situation in Worcester.

Sources said the man was spotted walking with a gun in his hand, then took off running. He ended up on Cutler Drive, where sources said he barricaded himself on the first floor of a three-decker. Video from the scene showed crowds of police officers and the street blocked off by crime scene tape.

"Officers were dispatched, there was an issue with someone behaving erratically with a firearm, waving it around in public," said Worcester Police Lt. Sean Murtha. "So we had to apprehend him. He ended up running into a residence on Cutler Street, officers cleared everybody else out of the residence to make sure he was by himself. We had been negotiating with him for the last hour or so, however long the time is. And he was just taken into custody."

After negotiating with police for at least two hours, the man was taken into custody. His girlfriend was not with him at the time. It's unknown what charges the suspect will be facing.
