Woman Rides Horse To Dunkin', Upton Bank Drive-Up Window

UPTON (CBS) -- A woman in Upton created some smiles with her unique mode of transportation to the bank.

"He goes, 'Where are you going?' I said, 'I'm riding down to the bank.' He just kind of rolled his eyes and said, 'Have fun.' And Cathie Hatrick-Anderson of Bobcat Farm sure did have fun, riding her horse Ruger to do her banking in Upton recently.

"I called them when I was halfway there and I said, 'I'm heading down now but it's going to take me a while because I'm riding my horse.' There was kind of silence on the phone," the trainer recalled.

The staff inside was delighted to soon see she wasn't lying! They asked for a photo.

"I had my bandanna on so I said, 'It's not often you get to go through the bank with a bandanna on!' she said.

Like any New Englander, the errands couldn't be complete without a trip through Dunkin' Donuts.

"I hadn't been in a while! I said I might as well while we're here," Cathie said, laughing.

Ruger earned a doughnut for his good behavior. Still, this might have been a one-time adventure. Typical traffic wouldn't be safe, but the socially distant errand certainly cheered up some Upton neighbors.

"You put your trust in an animal and you get the same thing in return. My horse trusts me to take him to places he's never been or something he's never seen before," Cathie said. "It's an incredible bond you form with these animals and it brings a lot of joy not just to me but everyone around them."
