Woman Who Moved To Boston From Haiti Killed In Dorchester Shooting
DORCHESTER (CBS) — The husband of a woman who was shot and killed in Dorchester Saturday afternoon said she recently moved to Boston from Haiti to provide a better life for their children.
Benine Timothee, 36, of Dorchester, was killed and a 15-year-old boy was injured when shots were fired near 152 Washington Street. The incident happened around 2:30pm on Saturday.
"She simply came with one thought which was to work hard with me so we can raise these children," her husband Andre Timothe said through a translator.
Benine arrived in July with their two children, ages 12 and 13, Timothe said. He said she was walking to work when she was shot in the chest.
"Your wife took one in her chest and she passed away," Timothe said a Boston police officer told him.
The Association for Haitian Women in Boston started a GoFundMe page to help Timothe pay for funeral costs.
The shooting on Saturday remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with any information to contact them.
