Woman Charged With Murdering Boyfriend In Leominster
LEOMINSTER (CBS) - A woman has been charged with murdering her boyfriend in a Leominster apartment.
Prosecutors say the victim, 37-year-old Cedric Taylor, had been in jail since March on charges he abused his girlfriend, 28-year-old Stephanie Cruz.
The case was dismissed Wednesday, when Cruz did not show up for Taylor's trial.
"At about 10:30 a.m. today, Leominster Police received a 911 call from Ms. Cruz who told the dispatcher that she had stabbed her boyfriend at about 8 p.m. yesterday," Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early said.
Leominster Police responded to the apartment on Water Street and found Taylor dead on the floor with a stab wound to the stomach.
Neighbors reported hearing fighting from the apartment Wednesday night, but had heard similar fights in the past and did not call police.
Cruz is a mother of three children. Taylor was the father of the Cruz's youngest child, who is now in state custody.
Cruz was held without bail. The case was continued to July 10.
