Wilbraham 'Sparkle' Park Built In Memory Of Amy Lord

WILBRAHAM (CBS) -- A new park in Wilbraham dons a sparkly pink sign, remnant of the shining personality of a young woman gone too soon.

The sign reads, "Amy's Sparkle Park." The name refers to Wilbraham native Amy Lord who was kidnapped and murdered in South Boston in 2013. She was 24.

Initials of seven people are etched on the sign - Amy's two sisters, her boyfriend and four best friends, Western Mass News reports.

"Amy's Sparkle Park truly represents everything Amy held so dear and all that she stood for - children, fun, laughter, family and friends and that awesome small town feel. We can't think of a better way to honor and remember her," the family told Western Mass News.

The park will be dedicated on Sept. 5 at Spec Pond on Boston Road starting at 3 p.m.

The park is not yet complete and the town is still taking monetary donations. Donations can be sent to Wilbraham Friends of Recreation. P.O. Box 283, Wilbraham, MA 01095 in care of Amy's Sparkle Park.
