Wiggy: Jeff Green Is Ruining Everything

BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics are faring much better in February than they were in January.

After a 2-15 month to start the year, the Celtics this month have won 4 of 5 and are steadily climbing back into the playoff race - but is that what Celtics fans want?

There's roughly a handful of "can't-miss" prospects in this year's draft class and the Celtics won't be picking there if Jeff Green keeps playing the way he is.

Green's consistency (or lack thereof) has been the biggest criticism of his NBA career, but you can't knock his production as of late. The forward is averaging 21.6 points in the month of February.

Jermaine Wiggins is one of those Celtics fans that wants to see his team picking in the lottery, and what he's seen from Jeff Green lately is starting to ruin that.

However, Wiggy does have a solution.

"I'll tell you what the Celtics need to do: they need to trade Jeff Green and Brandon Bass. Without those two guys, I don't care if you've got a healthy Rajon Rondo or not, you're still not going to win basketball games. You'll fall down and get in the lottery," said Wiggy.

"It's Jeff Green who's ruining everything! When Rondo's out there he don't score. Rondo sits and now he scores 30+ points? Move on from Jeff Green, move on from Bass and now no matter how healthy Rondo is your team is going to be bad and you're going to lose games."

The Celtics have played their way to a 19-34 record, but the league is in such a down year that there are still 7 teams below them. Tony Massarotti is convinced that even if the C's do trade Bass and Green they'll still be plenty good with Rondo.
