Wiggy: Blame Manning, Not Center, For Botched Snap To Start Super Bowl
BOSTON (CBS) - After further review, former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins has come to the conclusion that it wasn't center Manny Ramirez's fault for messing up the Broncos' first offensive play of the game...it was #18.
If you look at the tape you'll see that when the Denver center snaps the ball all five offensive lineman move forward in unison, seeming to indicate they were all on the same page.
The one player that didn't move? Peyton Manning.
Manny Ramirez accepted blame following the game and has taken the fall for the botched snap, but as a former player who spent the bulk of his career on the line of scrimmage Wiggy knows a miscommunication when he sees one - and the only person who wasn't communicating properly was Manning.
Gresh & Zo: Peyton Manning's Legacy Dealt Another Blow
"I put [the fault] squarely on Peyton Manning's shoulders. I looked back at it over and over from different angles, and it's one thing when the center snaps the ball and he thinks it's on a different cadence and he's the only one that moves. But when you got the whole offensive line moving in concert, everyone from left tackle to right tackle, everybody is moving - so that's on the quarterback."
Now that's a hot sports take right there, one that Michael Felger agrees with.
"That choking pig Peyton Manning blew the snap count and they all covered for him after the game," Felger said Tuesday afternoon.
