Whitey Bulger's Assets To Be Auctioned Off For Victims' Families
BOSTON (CBS) -- A judge has ordered the assets of convicted gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, including $821,799.49 and Bulger's Stanley Cup ring, to be auctioned off and the proceeds to be divided among the families of his victims.
According to documents filed Monday in United States District Court, items the government seized from Bulger's Santa Monica, California apartment after he was captured in June 2011 will be sold at auction by U.S. Marshals.
The proceeds--and the cash found in the apartment--will go to the families of several people murdered by Bulger or his associates, as well as several people the court found Bulger extorted.

Over $820,000 was found stuffed in the walls of the Santa Monica apartment Bulger shared with longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig.
Bulger was convicted in 2013 of participating in 11 murders in the 1970s and 80s, and is serving a life sentence.
