Man, Boy In A Crosswalk Struck By Car In Westwood

WESTWOOD (CBS) – Westwood Police are investigating a car crash involving several people in a crosswalk near Pond Street and Lakeshore Drive.

The crash was reported around 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said two people on the road were injured and taken to Boston hospitals.

Two bicycles and a pair of sneakers could be seen on the road in the area of the crash. Two cars are also stopped in the middle of the road.

Neighbors told WBZ-TV that an adult man and a little boy were hit. A young girl stood at the scene unharmed.

"We looked out the window and I saw a little red bicycle wedged between the two cars," described a man who lives nearby. "A gentleman was trying to remove the young boy, who's around six, from underneath the gray car."

Another man said, "[the girl] didn't get hit but she was there with her bicycle and she was just staring at all of this."

"While the crash appears preliminarily accidental, no final determination can be made about what charges, if any, will be filed," said Jeffery Silva, Westwood Chief of Police, in a statement.

Police reconstruction teams have been called to the scene.

Witnesses said the driver stopped and was crying hysterically on the side of the road. She said she didn't see the victims on the road because of sun glare.
