Weston High Principal Warning Against 'Senior Skip Day'

WESTON (CBS) --- Weston High School's principal is warning students not to participate in "senior skip day," rumored to be scheduled for St. Patrick's Day.

In a note home to parents, Principal Anthony Parker said senior skip day is characterized by "excessive drinking under the guise of having fun."

"In past years Facebook pictures have been sent to us with alcohol in plain view and students clearly looking inebriated. Furthermore, in years past there have been reports of ambulance runs and emergency room visits for severe physical injuries and alcohol poisoning," the letter said.

Parker said in addition to regular attendance rules, the school will enact other penalties for those who violate school policy including throwing students off sports teams and out of student government. Monday is also the start of the spring sports season.
