17-year-old Wendy's worker shot at drive-thru window in Lynn

LYNN - A Wendy's employee was shot through the drive-thru window on Boston Street in Lynn Tuesday night. The shooting happened at about 6 p.m.

Other workers at the Wendy's told WBZ-TV the victim is 17 years old. The employee suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Lynn Police detectives are investigating and no arrests have been made.

Amy Blake and Yamil Cepeda saw the commotion unfold at the popular spot in town, while families were eating inside.

"They're probably terrified. I know I'm grateful that I was not in there," Blake said. "It's kind of one those things where you're at the wrong place at the wrong time."

"You honestly don't expect something so bad and so traumatizing to be happening to somebody at such a young age." Cepeda said.

Investigators are trying to figure out if the shooting was random or targeted.

People who live in the area say while the sound of gunfire is becoming too common, it is disheartening and should not be accepted as the norm.

"It's getting scarier out here nowadays you just don't know where you can go and be safe nowadays," said Kerry Noonan.

Hamra Enterprises, who owns and operates the restaurant, released a statement after the shooting. "Our number one priority is the safety of our employees and customers," the statement said. "We are deeply disturbed by this senseless act of violence, and we are grateful to the first responders who acted quickly in this situation. We will work with local law enforcement as they continue their investigation."
