Man's Body Found On Wellfleet Beach

WELLFLEET (CBS) – The body of a man was found on shore in Wellfleet Sunday afternoon, police said.

A person walking the beach on Lieutenant Island called 911 after making the discovery just after noon.

Officers who responded to the scene confirmed that the man was dead.

On Friday, the Coast Guard was searching for a person missing in the water in Wellfleet Harbor. It hasn't been confirmed yet if authorities were in fact searching for the person whose body was found Sunday.

State Police detectives are assisting in the investigation.
