Wednesday's Child: 12-Year-Old Brandon
BOSTON (CBS) – Brandon is described as a charismatic, funny 12-year-old Caucasian boy who easily gets excited. He loves playing sports, and has played in a flag football and basketball league. Brandon is currently in a Boy Scout group, which he enjoys. He has also attended horse camps.
Brandon does very well academically and has a particular interest in science. He is bright, inquisitive, and articulate; he also has an excellent memory. He can be overwhelmed easily and needs to be monitored closely in regard to his homework. Brandon is capable of very positive and meaningful interactions when he is in a good space. He shows empathy and genuinely seems to care about people. If he knows someone is sad or upset, he will try to cheer up the person.
Brandon easily engages in weekly therapy, which addresses his emotional and behavioral needs. He attaches easily to adults but sometimes shows poor judgment in identifying who is safe and can, at times, be impulsive. Brandon is legally freed for adoption and is eager to leave his present residential home and live in a family setting. Brandon would like to find an active family, with a good sense of humor, in which he could have siblings. He would do best in a two-parent home with seasoned parents who have children older than him that would support an ongoing connection with his brother and aunt.
To learn more about Brandon, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
