WBZ's Carl Stevens Gets Conducting Lesson From Maestro Keith Lockhart
BOSTON (CBS) -- The kickoff to the Boston Pops season is right around the corner. On Monday, WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens got a conducting lesson from Maestro Keith Lockhart as he prepares for the season.

On the stage of Symphony Hall, Carl learned how to conduct "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." This year's season includes a 75th anniversary celebration of The Wizard of Oz. Lockhart warned Carl that it may be the hardest concert of the season.
Lockhart's first piece of advice was to focus on the tempo. "As you're thinking about this piece in your mind, you're thinking 'how fast do I want this to go?'"
After ten grueling minutes of practice, Carl concluded that if called upon, he would do his best but Lockhart is probably the only man for the job.
"It constantly amazes me that I get to make a living doing what it is that I really care passionately about. I love the music that we do. I love the opportunity that we have as performers to present it to people," said Lockhart.
Despite Carl's success, Lockhart will conduct the Pops for the 2014 season, which begins on May 7.
