Watch David Ortiz's Full Pre-Game Speech At His Final All-Star Game
BOSTON (CBS) -- David Ortiz made the most of his final MLB All-Star Game Tuesday night in San Diego, and he also made sure he gave one last piece of sage advice to his fellow All-Stars on his way out.
The MLB Network got into the American League locker room to record Ortiz's pre-game speech to his AL brethren, and after the game, they posted it for the world to see.
"Just one thing I can say about having a great career at this level ... Every day, you've got to bring something to the table for your ballclub," says Ortiz in the speech. "It doesn't matter how you feel. Sometimes you're not going to be 100 percent to do it, but the most important thing is the mindset. Those days that your mind tells you, 'You can't go,' you say, 'Yes I can.' ... That's what takes you to a different level."

Coming from a 40-year-old who is leading the league in several offensive categories, all while constantly playing with feet that feel on the verge of breaking down, that's advice that is impossible not to absorb for a young competitor.
